I have included links to sites below that I think are beneficial. If
you have others you would like to suggest please let me know and I will
add them. Feel free to use your own personal favorites for any
assignment
associated with html editors or webhosts. These are just listed as a
place
for you to begin to shop around if you don't have a clue as to what is
out there. Try not to be overwhelmed here, you can always bookmark this
page or else save it to your hard drive and go back to check out
various
links when you have some free time. For now, stay on target towards
getting
this week's assignment done :)

This one is a bit harder to get to. You must first join geocities and select a neighborhood for your page. This seems to be the one my on campus students like the best. You can either upload your own files or create them on their server.
BUILD YOUR HOMEPAGE IN MINUTES:
Are you brand-new to building Web pages? Then try GeoBuilder - it's
the easiest
way yet to create your site on GeoCities. Just use your mouse to point
and
click,
drag and drop. It's that simple!

Or use our Help Tutorials to learn how to build pages with the
other GeoCities HTML editors:
http://www.geocities.com/main/help/tutorials/
This one is similar to the Geocities. You have to fill out a
registration
to become a member first. FreeTown offers Free Chat Rooms and Free Home
Pages in our Neighborhoods , but our Citizens (who enjoy Citizenship
for
a nominal yearly fee), are able to take advantage of many, many
"extras"
that FreeTown offers. Build your free homepage on our editors online.
I didn't actually try this one out.
This one is for those who want more bells and whistles! It has numerous javascripts 10 included (40 more upon registration), frame designer includes 8 templates, forms designer and too many other tools to mention. Check it out if you are ready to move from basic to advanced webdesigns. The cost is low too in comparison to programs such as Frontpage, Dreamweaver, Hot Dog Pro or Cyberstudio.

If you have just acquired an Internet connection and are itching to
make a home page right now, FrontPage Express is worth
downloading. It is powerful enough to fulfil your basic needs and with
a bit of practice some reasonably impressive pages can be made. I don't
know much about this one and couldn't find it listed as a download on
the
Microsoft page so I must assume it is built in to Internet Explorer
4.0.
There are many free webhosts online. Some are offered by special
interest,
or affiliation etc. I haven't visited all the links listed on this
site.
feel free to browse around. I notice that some say they host for
schools
and teaching and student purposes.
Some may have online webpage editors like Geocities or Freetown but
I just am not aware of which do.

This site has tutorials where you can go to learn how to design webpages for yourself, so that you can make a site that will look a lot more unique, and that you will have much more control over. Also, check out the colorpicker, a handy little utility program. It has the codes for 216 colors that you may need for a reference someday down the road (not in this class).

Web Authoring Tools
Web Editing for Nearly Nothing
Edward Mendelson
The Internet's tradition of free exchange is alive and well. Freeware and low-cost HTML editors do almost everything their full-priced counterparts can do, though you may not find all the features you want in a single program. We looked at six programs that are more than adequate to get you up and running on the Web.
